He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1986, where he was offered membership in Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) (National Dental Honor Society) and the Matthew Cryer Honor Society. Dr. Grohol then attended a one year general practice residency at the Philadelphia Veterans Administration Hospital. By continuing education, a passion for quality and frequent exposure to state of the art training, Dr. Grohol is able to provide the best care possible.
I have had the outstanding pleasure of practicing in downtown West Chester and am delighted to open our new practice on January 5, 2009. I enjoy practicing even more because of this wonderful town. We searched long and hard to find an appropriate location within the borough and are ready to meet and exceed your treatment expectations. I look forward to a great relationship.
Ray Dandrea
Raymond L. Dandrea, D.D.S. has been a resident of West Chester ever since graduating from Temple U. Dental School in 1980. The oldest of seven siblings and born in the coal mine region of Cambria County in Western Pennsylvania, Dr. Dandrea matriculated to Temple from the U. of Notre Dame in 1976 and while at Temple was named to both the Oral surgery Honor Society and the Stomatognathic Society.
Upon graduating from Temple, Dr. Dandrea developed a private solo practice located in his home in West Chester and maintained that practice until felled by an emergency brain aneurysm in January of 2005. In April of that year he sold his practice to Dr Bill Grohol due to an uncertain future prognosis of full recovery. The two dentists agreed to work together if possible and Dr. Dandrea returned to practice as Dr. Grohol's associate in July of 2006. Dr. Dandrea now performs a full range of dental services and is fully recovered from the hemorrhagic accident.
Dr. Dandrea has been associated with youth baseball since 1992 and was a West Side Little League board member and coach until 2001, when he began coaching the Exton Junior Legion team. His 2004 squad won the first Pa. State Title in the history of the Chester County League. Currently he holds a position of Vice- president in the Exton Legion program. As a father of two sons who played baseball and soccer at Henderson High School, he is also involved with the Warrior booster programs for those respective sports.
He also held a board position with the Greater West Chester Sunrise Rotary Club and was active in their Community Service branch, and currently continues his interest in volunteering by coordinating Henderson High athletes in various local service projects. With the assistance of his former Rotarian friends, he recently started the Chester County branch of Operation Iraqi Hope, a charity drive that was originated in Bucks County during the winter of 2007 and resulted in over 2000 pounds of donated clothing shipped to Iraqi war victims.
In September of 2005 Dr. Dandrea gained certification with the U.S. Golf Teacher's Federation when it was unclear whether he would ever be able to practice dentistry again. He presently teaches Beginning Golf through the Chester County Adult Night School, and volunteers at the CVIM dental clinic and The First Tee golf program for underprivileged children. He is also involved with PIAA legislation that would mandate the use of protective mouthguards in scholastic soccer matches. His other passions are The Boston Red Sox, fitness, the environment, gardening and sandcastle building. He considers himself most fortunate to be associated with Maple Knoll Dental and all of the fine West Chester community.
